The fireweed has started to bloom en masse, which is apparently depressing a lot of my fellow Alaskans. It seems the fireweed bloom signifies the imminent end of summer. At least, I think so. When I tried to get the Tribune to put one of these pictures in the paper, all I got was “Aw, we don’t want to depress anyone with fireweed yet…” and some mumblings about summer ending soon.
Who knew beautiful, fuchsia-colored flowers brought pain?
In other news, I’ve updated the photoblog to post a different picture everyday through the end of the month. Most of them have been seen here before, but I’m building up my stock of available photos so you can order all those prints you’ve been wanting!
