Return to Rural has already posted hers, and I’m having network outages here. I know I still owe you a list of B’s, which I’ll post later tonight, assuming the tubes aren’t clogged up here.
Today’s song comes to you from the 80′s, and was one of my favorites in grade school. “Wild Wild West” before Will Smith got a hold of it.
I really enjoy Return To Rural‘s Sing Along Thursdays, where she picks a music video to share with the world. So I’m going to do it too. Hopefully you don’t mind, TMC?
Today’s pick comes from a CD I’ve been constantly listening to in the car, and not just because it’s one of 3 CDs I have in there. Broken Social Scene’s “Almost Crimes.” And yes, that’s Feist.
I still don’t quite have this video camera down. Here’s my second attempt at capturing the sunrise, taken yesterday. This is a full hour condensed down to 1 minute.
This time I managed to get the camera setup before the sun appeared, but I left the Auto White Balance on. That accounts for the shifts from blue to yellow early in the video. I also need to learn how to manually set the exposure, so there won’t be jumps in brightness during the time lapse.
I like seeing the sun get high enough to hit the bay, and which starts forming clouds almost immediately. I’ll have to get a closeup of that later on.
It was very gray here today, so here’s a video to brighten up your Monday:
We woke up this morning to 3 inches of snow. Then, the clouds rolled in.
The cloud eventually passed, but the bay was still completely obscured for the rest of the day. It snowed off and on all day, and there may be another 4 inches accumulating overnight. And this is fall, not winter!
I finally got around to taking out the video camera the other day, before we got buried in snow, and tried to record the sunrise. Except I was a little late setting up, and I don’t know my camera very well still, so basically it’s not what I was hoping it would be. I also shot some of the scenery, and an overview of the dog yard.
I compressed the sunrise(n?) from 5 minutes to 25 seconds, and I also deleted the audio because the camera microphone sucks. Someday I’ll take a better video, but for now, this is what I have. I do like seeing the sun move more horizontally than vertically. That’s cool!
I am unequal parts technology geek, photographer, videographer, and outdoor adventurer.
In 2008, my wife and I left our office jobs in Indiana and moved to Alaska to work with sled dogs. Learn more about that stage of our life in Alaska through this series of posts. After moving on from poop-scooping and food-slinging in waist deep snow ("character reinforcement"), I created and now operate Bigwoofs Technology full time.
I also have a photography site, two cats and two dogs, and like to cook.
